Fodor's Expert Review Blue Sky on York Beach
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
Making its home on the second floor of the grandly restored (outside–inside is new) 1888 Atlantic House Hotel, this wide-open and inviting restaurant adds a keen sense of swanky sophistication to this casual beach town. A massive stone fireplace anchors the great room of high ceilings and exposed ductwork; unusual hanging light fixtures attract the eye and cast a gentle glow. Choices here include a veal meatball appetizer and entrees like braised short ribs with Cabernet risotto and roasted parsnips. There's a lighter menu for the lounge, a curved food bar where you can watch the cooks, outdoor dining on the huge porch (town views), and Sunday brunch. The 13 spacious, modern hotel rooms and suites on the third and fourth floors have designer fabrics, gas fireplaces, Jacuzzi tubs, and, in suites, laundry facilities.
