Blue Sky on York Beach

Blue Sky on York Beach Review

Making its home on the second floor of the grandly restored Atlantic House Hotel, this wide-open and inviting restaurant adds a keen sense of swanky sophistication to this casual beach town. A massive stone fireplace anchors the great room of high ceilings, exposed ductwork, and warm wood floors; unusual hanging light fixtures attract the eye and cast a gentle glow. The menu, executed by well-known chef and owner Lydia Shire, takes regional New England fare to new heights. Memorable choices include the lamb pizza appetizer and the lobster stew; the deep-fried short ribs are painfully delicious, as is the charcoaled duck breast with sugar pumpkin. For a closer look at what happens in the kitchen, you can sit at the curved food bar, with full views of the wood-fired oven and the chefs at work. There's an additional bar menu for the lounge. In good weather, sit out on the large deck with views of the town below. Sunday jazz brunch is also a winner here.
