Danforth Inn Review

A stunning showpiece, the stylish decor at this convenient inn a short walk from downtown befits what was one of Portland's grandest federal-style dwellings when it was built in 1823. It stands on a block known in the early 19th century as "Social Corners" for the elaborate parties the owners held in the spacious parlor. Updated with contemporary furnishings, the inn has a glamorous, Old Hollywood feel. Guest rooms have original working fireplaces and are individually decorated with vibrant patterns and artwork. Room 8, with its semicircle design and a crystal chandelier over the bed, is exquisite. A restaurant serves Latin-influenced cuisine.
