The Danforth Review
A stunning showpiece, this stylish inn was one of Portland's grandest Federal-style dwellings when it was built in 1823. It stands a short walk from downtown on a block known in the early 19th century as "Social Corners" for the elaborate parties the owners held in the spacious parlor. Updated with contemporary furnishings, the inn has a mod, seaside feel. Guest rooms have original working fireplaces and are individually decorated with vibrant patterns and artwork. The Old Port room, with its semicircle design and a crystal chandelier over the bed, is exquisite.
