Foodies and fashionistas flock to owner-chef Michael Kornick's ultrahip spot for its sleek look and elegant menu. In a renovated former commercial paint facility, mk pairs its brick walls and soaring ceilings with fine linens, expensive flatware, and designer wine stems. Menus change with the season, and mains tend to hew to two or three dominant flavors—à la pan-seared Maryland striped bass with black garlic and sausage, and braised bison short ribs with potato gnocchi and manchego cheese—rather than getting overcomplicated. It's not cheap, but it is special.
