Fodor's Expert Review Hotel Burnham
1 W. Washington St., Chicago, Illinois, 60602, USA Fodor's Choice
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
This historic property, built in 1895 by D. H. Burnham and Co. as one of the first skyscrapers, retains original details that include Carrara marble wainscoting, terrazzo floors, and large windows in the very heart of the Loop. The wrought-iron trim on the elevators is remarkable, and the stairways on the guest floors have marble risers and ornate iron railings. On the ground floor, the Atwood Café serves contemporary American fare, including popular potpies.
