Fodor's Expert Review Sixteen

$$$$ River North Modern American

Editor's Note: This property is currently undergoing renovations.

Uninterrupted views of the landmark Wrigley Building, Lake Michigan, and the Chicago River make it easy to overlook the food at Sixteen—but you shouldn't. Located on the 16th floor (hence the name) of the sleek Trump International Hotel & Tower, the restaurant serves chef Thomas Lents's whimsically themed cuisine. Each tasting menu ($130 or $190) tells a seasonal tale with dishes like monkfish with endive, truffles, and blood orange served table-side. Desserts are just as inventive. Power lunching is still popular here, though if you have time for a leisurely lunch, the six-course tasting menu is more of a bargain than dinner for $78. Breakfast, with house-made crumpets, jumbo lump crab omelet, and freshly squeezed juices, are an indulgent accompaniment to early-morning views over the lake.
