Fodor's Review

Exotica is on the menu and in the air at this spot that's favored by visitors to the nearby Art Institute and the Symphony Center. Mahogany trim, samovars, and balalaika music set the stage for dishes from Russia and neighboring republics (the owners hail from Uzbekistan), including Ukrainian borscht, blinis (small, savory pancakes) with salmon caviar, Moldavian meatballs, and classic beef Stroganoff. Chilled vodka flights (three shots) certainly do help the herring

go down.

Just squeeze in

We've dined here several times and although I wouldn't call it exotic, the atmosphere is unlike any other place in Chicago. It is crowded most times, but you might get a table without a reservation if you're willing to squeeze in.The food seems Eastern European/Russian and is very tasty and filling. The service ranged from friendly but where is she to downright rude. One time the waiter demanded to know where his tip was(we left it on the table!) The

prices are what you should expect for a Loop restaurant-expensive,but average for the area.Go for the "Exotica" but don't expect lots of room,or service.
