Don't be fooled by the Wyndham name or hotel description. This is low-income housing masquerading as a vacation destiny. Dirty and unsafe, I got my family out there not long after we checked in. I had secured the hotel as part of an online vacation package and never got my money back. At least, my family -- and my wallet -- were safe. Stay away!
I just spent 4 days at this place and if my company had not prepaid I would have left as soon as I arrived. All the negative reviews below are true. Bugs, dirty carpet, dirty bedspread, noise in addition to broken vending and ice machines. The one positive review below suggests that if you can't live with a few bugs and years of someone else's dirt you have really high expectations. If all it takes to make you happy is a Starbucks and ice cream by the pool, this IS the place for you. In fact, if you never had to go to your room, this place would not be so bad. The grounds are well kept, the food was better than expected and they have a great gym. If a cheap price is all it takes for you to be happy, go for it. Otherwise, if central Florida squalor isn't for you, keep looking.
I was about to book this hotel for part of my trip to Orlando, I wouldn't be in the room much, I've stayed at other Wyndham's and they were very nice and the price was right - I was then going to transfer to Royal Pacific for the Universal part of the vacation.
After reading these reviews, I'm so glad I didn't book - I would have done the non-refundable web rate.
I will now book my full week at a Universal hotel.
Thanks for saving me some cash!!!
I stayed at the Wyndham Orlando Resort for a conference in April 2008 and had electronics and non-valuables stolen from my room when I went to dinner just after checking in. They found a few personal items of mine in other people's rooms that same night, which is icky. But most of my things are gone. I filled out a report with the hotel and sheriff and was told someone would get back to me, but after that the hotel management was non-responsive, evasive, and then rude. They made it clear that they don't care about theft from guest rooms. I am not the only one this has happened to (either the theft or the poor management response) ... other people have written similar reviews on-line and other people had things stolen the same night I did.
If you do stay here, don't stay in a ground floor room with a patio -- they are not safe! And don't leave anything you care about in your room.
The rooms were a bit grungy but not unbearable (though there are a number of different buildings, and from the reviews it sounds like some are better than others). I did think the pools were nice, but are you supposed to take everything in your room with you into the pool, so it doesn't get stolen?
