Box Canyon Lodge & Hot Springs Review

If bathing with the masses at the local hot springs is not your cup of tea, opt for a semi-private plunge at this friendly lodge. This mineral spring was used first by the Utes, and later by sanitariums that operated at the location between the 1920s and 1940s. Soak away your cares in four redwood tubs full of steaming water kept between 103°F and 107°F, all with terrific mountain views. The lodge has a great location off the main drag and near the stream. The rooms are nondescript but modern, clean, and comfortable, and a Continental breakfast is included.

    I like this place

I've stayed at this hotel on two separate trips, and I'd stay again. It's certainly not fancy, but the rooms are clean and comfortable and it's perfectly adequate. The only drawback for me was the thin walls - if you're in a lower unit, you can hear the people walking around above you.

I enjoyed soaking in the outdoor hot tubs while it snowed, under the watchful eye of a deer.

Breakfast is very basic, just muffins, coffee and tea.
