The mirror-calm Alexander Lake reflects towering pine trees that also overlook the vast majority of this resort's cozy cabins, which are designed for tranquillity. Still, there's plenty of room for fishing, horseback riding, boating, or snowmobiling. Many cabins -- which hold as many as seven people -- were renovated in 2005 with modern, comfortable beds and kitchens of varying sizes. Pros: pay cash and save $20-$35, fishing and snowmobiling right on the property, quiet and peaceful. Cons: rather remote, no restaurant.
