It’s clear that the property owners love Denver and want guests who stay here to love Denver, too. The Queen Anne Bed & Breakfast feels very personal, because it’s clear all their sourcing choices were intentional. The passion for sustainability, local food, and going green, permeate every thoughtful touch, without feeling overwhelming to the uninitiated. And, there’s a lovely garden with more than 100 varieties of fruit, flowers, herbs, and vegetables on display, which can sometimes make you forget you’re in the middle of an urban area, just blocks away from downtown.

In two, stately 1880s mansions, located side-by-side, you’ll find the Queen Anne Bed & Breakfast, Denver’s first urban bed and breakfast. Opened in 1987, the Queen Anne is charming and oozes both style and substance. Rooms are designed and decorated by local artists, the food is sustainable, local, and organic, whenever possible, and the property is actively working toward becoming zero-waste.

Room
Each of the nine standard rooms and four suites is individually decorated. Each room has its own appeal, with varying windows, decor, amenities, and style. Several have fireplaces and whirlpool or larger jet soaking tubs. Two rooms have on-suite hot tubs, including one on the rooftop with views of the city skyline. The four suites are decorated with art commissioned by local artists.
Bathroom
Because each room is different, bathroom options vary wildly, but you can expect to pamper yourself with the Colorado-made, organic toiletries from Jason Organics.
Lobby
Guests enter through a grand wooden door with a stained glass window into the lobby and living room, outfitted with gleaming reclaimed hardwood floors. The entryway is small—a check-in desk is tucked beneath the imposing carved staircase—but the living room acts as a greater lobby and lounge space, opening up to the big, round community table that hosts daily breakfast.
Dining
Breakfast is one of the main reasons repeat travelers return. The meal is included in every reservation and is served weekday mornings from 7:15 to 9:15 a.m. and on weekends 8-10 a.m. During the summer season, you can expect ingredients to include those grown in the backyard gardens.
Drinking
Each evening boasts a complimentary wine tasting (5:30-7 p.m.), where guests enjoy Colorado wines, local treats, gourmet cheeses, and additional tasty treats.

The Queen Anne is located in a first-ring residential neighborhood, just outside of the downtown area. Nearby taxi, ride-share, and pedicab service is fast and easy to access, but there's also plenty within walking distance. Off-street private parking is available, but the Queen Anne recommends travel by foot, bicycle, or taxi/ride-share. The 20th & Welton light rail station is a 6-minute walk and the city bus picks up across the park (2-minute walk).
Restaurants
Just across Benedict Fountain Park, directly across from the Queen Anne, is Coperta (3-minute walk), a warm room celebrating the flavors of Rome and southern Italy. Other notable nearby spots are the vegan-friendly Mercury Cafe (5-minute walk), dessert paradise D Bar Denver (5-minute walk), and hidden gem Mexican food and margaritas at La Pasadita (8-minute walk).
Bars
The Horseshoe Lounge (3-minute walk), also across the park from the Queen Anne, feels like a retro hipster haven. Pool tables, pizza, a jukebox, and a terrific happy hour await you. For an upscale experience, wander up to Retrograde (6-minute walk), a speakeasy-style cocktail lounge hidden in the back of an ice cream shop.
