Inn at Union Square Review

Whether you are celebrating an anniversary or are in town for business, this crowd-pleasing B&B provides a retreat from the hustle of Union Square while being located in the heart of it all. The small inn dates back to 1912 when it was an antiquarian bookstore with accommodations to boot. A friendly staff mans the small lobby, while guests retreat upstairs to reasonably sized rooms decked out in maroon and gold. Poster beds, oversized pillows, flat-screen TVs, tubs, and Aveda bath products add additional comforts. In the mornings, guests congregate on their floor's lounge for an expanded Continental breakfast; in the afternoon the staff offers wine and small bites; and before bed, guests munch on chocolate chip cookies and chat about their day. At turndown, staffers deliver bottles of water and chocolate.

    in Aug.2012 we stayed at the Inn at Union Square. This hotel was very conveniently located near the cable car stop.
    It is a cozy Inn with a staff that knows the meaning of awesome service. The night we arrived, after a harrowing flight we called the desk because our TV remote was not working properly. They wanted to send someone right up to fix it. We were very tired and so we told them we would call them the next day about it.

    We went sightseeing the next day & when we arrived
    back at our room there was a bottle of champagne on ice & a small box of delicious chocolates along with a letter apologizing for our difficulties with the remote-which was now fixed.

    Everyday around 5:30 wine & several kinds of cheese, crackers & snacks were served. Also every evening around 8:00 they had fresh baked cookies.
    The rooms were on the small side but comfortable.
    The staff was always available to answer questions & couldn't do enough for us.

    I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel to anyone. It was the best part of our San Francisco trip.
