The Huntington Hotel

$$$$, Nob Hill

Fodor's Review:

The venerable ivy-covered hotel, a family-owned property for three generations, has provided gracious personal service to everyone from Bogart and Bacall to Picasso and Pavarotti. Rooms and suites, many of which have great views of Grace Cathedral, the bay, or the city skyline, are large because they used to be apartments. Most rooms have wet bars; all have large writing desks. The elegant Nob Hill Spa complex has panoramic city views, numerous spa services, and spa cuisine served by white-jacketed waiters around an indoor pool with a fireplace lounge area. The Big 4 Restaurant serves contemporary American cuisine in a clubby room with green leather booths and a collection of San Francisco and Western memorabilia.
