Orchard Garden Hotel

Fodor's Review:

This is the first hotel in San Francisco built to the environmentally stringent LEED specifications, which mandate the use of earth-friendly features like chemical-free cleaning agents, recycling bins, and custom-designed guest-room key card energy control system. Local artist Archie Held's glass water sculpture in the lobby sets the hotel's high aesthetic standards. The owner's collection of original artwork is scattered throughout the hotel -- even in the rooftop garden. Amenities include complimentary car service to the Financial District and buffet breakfast in Roots restaurant, which is supplied by organic and local purveyors. The simply styled rooms offer low-flow toilets, washable textiles in soothing hues of green and gold, and natural woods.
