Orbit In Hotel Review
Step back to 1957 at this hip inn, located on a quiet back street downtown. The architectural roots here date back to the late 1940s and '50s—nearly flat roofs, wide overhangs, glass everywhere—with the ambience to match. Rooms are appointed with mid-century modern furnishings by such designers as Eames, Noguchi, and Breuer. Some have private patios; all have lava lamps, chrome Crosley reproduction record players (that will take your CDs), plus a few Melmac dishes tucked here and there. An outside shower, vintage cruiser bikes, books, games, and videos are available for guest use. A lively atmosphere prevails poolside, where a complimentary breakfast is served daily.
