Location is the main appeal of this motel perched on a waterfront bluff. All rooms have an ocean view and a vague mountains-meet-the-seaside look, and the boardwalk is just down the street. In addition to standard rooms, there are three luxury king spa rooms with balconies and two family cottages with private hot tubs. Some rooms have fireplaces; studios and suites have kitchenettes, and three rooms have whirlpool tubs.

Loved this motel. We stayed one night in the exec. suite, which should be called a beach shack, a cozy one-bedroom cottage with your own parking space, and your own "backyard" complete with your own personal outdoor spa and patio table and furniture, overlooking the beautiful bay. Dining and kitchen area, and a very short walk to the pier. The next night we had a regular room, but again, spacious and quaint. Not the lap of luxury, but after all,
you are in Santa Cruz, a beach town. The little continental breakfasts are great as well.
