Lassen Volcanic National Park

Lassen is a rugged adventurer's paradise, but be prepared for sudden changes in the weather: fierce thunderstorms sometimes drench the mountains and produce lightning, which poses a threat to hikers above the tree line, and blizzard conditions can develop quickly in winter or even early spring and late fall. In summer, hot temperatures and limited shade can pose a threat, especially for hikers unused to high altitudes.
