Of all the midrange lodgings in South Lake, this one is probably the best. Across the road from a beach, the "inn" is essentially a high-end motel, with spacious, spotless rooms and suites decorated in soft, slightly dated color schemes. All rooms have balconies, so you don't feel shut in, and there's lots of light, too. Pricier rooms have lake views (across the road), wet bars, and kitchens. In the afternoon the staff sets out cookies and cider, a nice touch indicative of the better-than-average service you'll find here. Pros: Great value, stellar service, just a short drive from Heavenly Mountain. Cons: Sits on Lake Tahoe Boulevard.—the busy main route into town.
