This is where such stars as George Clooney, Julia Roberts, and Matt Damon come to stay and play. The lobby bar with its big bay window overlooking rue de la Montagne is a favorite for martinis after work, but for something a little quieter you can sip your predinner drinks by the big fireplace in the lobby lounge. Guest rooms are luxurious, with striped silk upholstered furniture and beds draped with lacy duvets. Canopy beds give many rooms a romantic touch. The bathrooms have whirlpool baths, televisions, and phones. The location—a five-minute walk from Holt Renfrew and other high-end boutiques—makes it an ideal base for serious shoppers. Pros : cocktails with a view in the lobby bar; Holt Renfrew and Ogilvy's is a five-minute walk away; good celebrity spotting. Cons : standard rooms are small, considering the price.
