Car Travel

A car is the best way to explore Chiriquí as roads are in good repair and well-marked. Avenida Obaldía heads straight north out of David to Boquete as a four-lane highway, no turns required. All other areas are reached via the Carretera Interamericana, which skirts David to the north and east. To reach the Interamericana from David's airport, turn left onto Avenida Reed Gray, then left onto Calle F Sur at the police station, 1½ km north of which you'll reach the two-lane highway. Most major rental agencies have offices in David and offer 4WD vehicles as well as less expensive standards (sufficient for most trips).
