Hacienda Xcanatun Review

The furnishings at this beautifully restored 18th-century henequen hacienda include African and Indonesian antiques, locally made lamps, and comfortable, oversized couches and chairs from Puebla. The cool and spacious rooms come with cozy four-poster or sleigh beds; fine sheets; fluffy comforters; and are impeccably decorated with art from Mexico, Cuzco, Peru, and other places the owners have traveled. Bathrooms are luxuriously large and have skylights veiled with cloth and the suites have bathtubs hand carved from conchuela shell stone. Creature comforts range from a/c and minibars to stereos and room service, but if you want TV, you'll have to go to the hacienda's original chapel that now acts as the lounge. The restaurant serves a standard breakfast as well as French and Caribbean dishes with Yucatán ingredients for lunch and dinner, while the hacienda's spa cooks up innovative treatments such as cacao-and-honey massages. Adding to the beauty of this property is the outstanding service and the three acres of manicured gardens. The Hacienda can also arrange package tours to Celestún.
