If your child can't find something he or she likes on the Pancake House menu, you might have an alien on your hands. There are 12 kinds of pancakes—including the Oh Henry, with chocolate bits and peanut butter—and eight kinds of waffles. Other breakfast items include machaca burritos, chilaquiles, and eggs Florentine, but these tend to be perfunctory: pancakes and waffles are your best bet. Waiters bustle around the large, fairly noisy dining room, which is bursting with local families on weekends and homesick travelers daily. The back patio—draped in pothos and serenaded by birds—experiences a greenhouse effect when the day heats up. Closes at 2 PM.

This is not gourmet dining by any means but it's a dependable breakfast spot. Great waffles. Dependable Mexican breakfast favorites ala huevos rancheros, etc. They roast their own coffee which is terrific. I've never had a problem with the service although you may frequently have to stand in line during high season. Food is better and more reasonable than Freddie's Toucan.
