This small inn three blocks from the beach is a work of art, with Mexican decor, batik wall hangings, and rustic wood-frame beds. There are two buildings and two swimming pools, one for families and a quieter one for adults; the latter overlooks a pretty garden and pool area, which also has a thatch-roof Mayan bistro. Junior suites in both buildings have living rooms and microwaves for a quick meal. There's also a small business center and spa (for guests only) that offers temazcal rituals and yoga classes. Free umbrellas and beach chairs are available upon request.

We would like to add some information to this review so the readers of Fodor's have the most up-to-date information. The Aventura Mexicana is a full service boutique hotel with 49 rooms and a restaurant called the Mayan Bistro. Both the adult wing and the family wing overlook their own pool and gardens. Spa services and donation based Yoga are open to everyone and we no longer offer the temazcal service. In August 2015, we replaced and upgrade
the mattresses and bedding in all rooms! We have also upgraded our Continental breakfast to include ... a variety of pastries made fresh in-house daily, eggs, a selection of whole fruit, granola and yogurt, toast, a selection of fruit juices, coffee and herb teas. When you stay with us, you'll receive discounted access to Kool Beach Club for $60 pesos (approx $3.75/day USD). They offer chairs, umbrellas, sunbeds and bathrooms. They also have great food and drinks with their full restaurant and bar service! We look forward to welcoming you to Playa Del Carmen soon! Aventura Mexicana Hotel American Owned and Operated
