Fodor's Expert Review Gugas
Editor's Note: This location is reported to be under new ownership and therefore this review may contain inaccuracies.
In a quiet rancho surrounded by huge tabacón plants and cooled by ceiling fans, Gugas serves up local fish and seafood, but is also notable for its German recipes. The German owner receives high praise from locals for his gypsy-style schnitzel, using slow-cooked pork tenderloin, and for grilled German sausages, as well as local fish and seafood dishes. There’s a long bar to perch at, and it’s just one block north of the cruise-ship dock and the bustle of the Paseo de los Turistas.
