Fodor's Review

Extremely well-informed, helpful owners and proximity to the airport (15 minutes) make this a good place to begin and end a trip. Thanks to its location on a ridge north of town, several of this hotel's rooms have views of Poás Volcano, and all of them offer tranquillity and abundant birdsong. The two rooms in the main house have the best views, but casitas (little houses) scattered around the large garden offer more privacy. Bright and cheery bungalows have small

terraces with chairs where guests, typically well traveled, lounge. Continental breakfasts and delicious dinners (by reservation) are served on a covered terrace behind the house. Ask about their books-for-schools program.

Oasis near airport

We stayed here in September & were enchanted by the gardens. The breakfast was absolutely out of this world. The casita was charming. We are palnning to return in February.

Not Pura Vida

We found the accomodation (main house) minimalist but acceptable; view OK. No dinner available; they sent us with very difficult directions to a place in town that was noisy, hectic and hard to get to in the dark (after a 14 hour plane trip). While the staff was nice, the owner was always pre-occupied and quite unhelpful when assistance was requested. Gardens were lovely. We would not stay here again; it lacked a welcoming ambience.
