Energetic New Yorkers Bob and Risa Frackman invite you to stay at their place on a beautiful, palm-lined stretch of beach. You can play tennis and swim in the sea or in one of the three beachside pools. Their chef, Frank DaSilva, packs lunches for boat rides to deserted cayes and serves delicious dinners in the seaside dining room. The Saturday night pool-side barbecue—-think grilled lobster (in season), fresh fish, and tons of shrimp—-attracts crowds from up and down the peninsula. Such personal attention makes this one of Belize's top beach resorts. Although the regular rooms and junior suites have been beautifully refurbished, if possible opt for the deluxe suites, most with verandas overlooking the ocean and some with kitchens. The hotel has a dive center and two private cayes, Bob's Caye and Ranguana Caye, for picnics or overnight trips. Robert's Grove was voted "Belize Hotel of the Year " in 2008 by members of Belize's Tourism Industry Association. Pros: Well-run, personal attention, gorgeous seaside rooms and suites, lots of on-site activities. Cons: Nothing particularly exotic here, not inexpensive.
