The Cayo District Hotels

Gaia Riverlodge

  • Appealing small lodge
  • A little less expensive than other lodges in the Mountain Pine Ridge

  • Some standard cabañas don't have much of a view

Fodor's Review

Perched on a steep hill above the Five Sisters waterfalls this laid-back lodge is romantic and stylish. Accommodations are in nicely appointed thatch cabañas with screened porches. A small, open-air hydraulic lift will take you down to the river if you'd rather avoid the 286 steps. After a swim in the river, the thatch-roof bar is a great place to unwind. A riverside villa with a stunning setting below the falls (about BZ$900 with tax and service) is the top choice here. The lodge's lovely restaurant has a beautiful view of the falls and prepares savory Belizean and international food. Three-night adventure packages including accommodations, all meals, transfers from Belize City, and two tours are around BZ$4,600 for two, in-season.
