Cayes and Atolls Restaurants

Cocina Caramba

Cocina Caramba Review

You'll quickly sense the frenetic energy of this noisy and often packed restaurant operated by Rene Reyes, who worked in restaurants in Miami and San Pedro before opening his own spot. There's nothing very fancy on the menu here—just basics like grilled snapper (BZ$30), fried shrimp, pork chops, and Mexican fajitas and burritos—but everything is well prepared, prices are moderate (though they've increased in recent years), and the service is snappy and enthusiastic.

Awful - the food was average, nothing out of the ordinary. I went there a couple of years ago and it was MUCH better. It has obviously gone downhill. Plus, the menu is not accurate -they have written $14 for chicken fingers, and when we asked for a side order, they said it could come with fries -but forgot that to add fries meant an additional $6 on the tab!! When we complained about not being informed, the lady at the front desk started yelling that SHE -who was like six tables away-HAD HEARD that we had been told. She was practically implying we were trying to rob $6 worth of fries!! And she continued her unpleasant scene even AFTER we had paid. Awful. Never EVER going back there and not recommending it to anyone.

I would highly recommend this place to anyone traveling to San Pedro, Belize. This was my favorite restaurant! The blackened fish and shrimp in jerk sauce was awesome! The conch appetizer another favorite! The service, food, and enthusiastic atmosphere can't be beat.
