Owned by a British-Belizean couple on the site of the old Paradise Lodge, this lodge has six comfy hardwood cottages on a gorgeous 11 1/2-acre site on the shores of the Crooked Tree Lagoon. A main lodge building houses a restaurant. The two-bedroom cabin is ideal for families. Camping is available (BZ$20). Dinner is BZ$30. Children under 12 eat free. Pets are welcome. Many birds can be seen on the grounds, and the lodge can arrange birding trips with the top guides.
Crooked Tree Lodge, on Crooked Tree Lagoon, Crooked Tree, Belize
Feb 25, 2011
Since the review by Fodor's, the Lodge has been beautifully landscaped. This makes this location about as good as such a location can get. The owners are excellent hosts. The area is kept neat and clean. Angie and Mick work hard to keep the place in great shape. Their 2 young boys are friendly and delightful to be around. We have probably never stayed at any place that served food as good as here. You can even get a cold beer on tap!! The
birding is outstanding and Mick (owner) gives an excellent early morning boat trip along the rather large lagoon with many bird (and other animal) sightings. The only bad part of going here is the road across the causeway leading to Crooked Tree Village. But the bumps are definitely worth absorbing. If you are are in Belize, are interested in nature, are of any age (I'm 74), are camping, cycling or driving your own car, you really should consider visiting or staying at this Lodge. I lied - there is another bad part of going here - sometime, you have to leave.
