A friendly and hardworking couple from Taiwan runs this little hotel and budding eco-complex on the Western Highway. It's convenient to most of the attractions near Belize City while being away from the city's sketchier vibes. Besides 18 simple but clean rooms, Orchid Garden has several gardens and mini-museums, including a mushroom house, an ecology display, and a collection of Belizean nature paintings and old Belize bottles. An overnight package includes room, two meals, and admission to the hotel's several museums, for BZ$280 double. Transfers from the international airport are BZ$80 for two. Longer packages include tours, transfers, and meals. Pros: Centrally located, clean rooms, and tasty meals. Cons: Not in a particularly scenic part of Belize.
