Getting Here and Around

Turkish Airlines, Pegasus, and Atlas Jet have regular flights from Istanbul and SunExpress flies to Van from İzmir and Antalya. The airport is on the south of the city, on the road to Akdamar and Tatvan. A taxi from the airport to the city center costs around 30 TL. If you intend to hire a car, Europcar, Avis, and other companies have offices at the airport, although its best to reserve a vehicle in advance. The airport and city center are just off the main highway that skirts the southern portion of Lake Van. If you’re traveling by car, Van is 176 km (110 miles) south of Doğubeyazıt on D975.
