Argos in Cappadocia Review

Exceptional service, a spectacular location, and accommodations that meld sophisticated yet understated contemporary design with lovely local touches make Argos one of Capppadocia's best hotels. Public spaces—including a lounge, an excavated concert space, and the excellent Seki Restaurant (—utilize the area's natural materials and feature impeccable design details. Rooms, some in caves and some in restored mansions, are distributed over several buildings amid well-tended gardens. Most have fireplaces and some have a terrace or balcony (none have TVs); "splendid" category suites even have small private pools. The property is centrally located for experiencing Cappadocia but leave yourself a day or two just to enjoy the hotel. Be sure to tour the on-site wine cellar (Turkey's largest).

Luxe Cave Living
A large part of the allure of Cappadoccia, with its otherworldly landscape of rock-hewn fairy castles, is spending the night in a cave hotel. And the best place to experience cave living at its finest is at the Argos, where each of the uniquely decorated rooms and suites are cheerfully cozy with locally made fabrics, antique rugs, and handicrafts, as well as top-of-the-line bed linens and bath products. Fred and Wilma Flintstone would envy the suites, outfitted with a private plunge pool or fireplace, or both. Outside, the views over Pigeon Valley are magical, especially from the terrace of the excellent on-site restaurant with a glass of wine made from the vineyard right outside.
