This charming, rustic inn, in a tiny village near the archaeological site of Las Medulas, was lovingly converted by the owner from a series of medieval ruins. It's an easy walk down a narrow lane and then hiking trails, from the hotel to ancient Roman gold mines that have left striking orange mountains of clay. Each of the hotel's rooms are individually styled, incorporating natural features like living trees and stone or slate floors. Suites with extra beds for families with children are also available. The owners will prepare meals on request (local wine is fabulous!), and recommend hiking trails or other activities.
