Why We Like It

The 5rooms is everything you could want in a bed & breakfast. It’s cute, quaint, personal, and super stylish. The owners are incredibly sweet and will treat you like family and the breakfast is hearty and healthy. Location-wise, you’re close to everything and shuffling around the city is a breeze from this location. Fans of mini-accommodations will love it here, but if you’re used to more corporate hotels, this isn’t the place for you as you won’t find added amenities like a spa or gym. You stay here because you want a home away from home and The 5rooms gives you exactly that.

Fodor's Expert Review

The name is a bit of a misnomer as there are actually 12 rooms at this lovely bed & breakfast. And inside, you’ll discover a stylish and cozy home with spacious rooms, a super warm staff led by owner Yessica Delgado Fritz, and a welcoming environment all around. Guests are encouraged to meet and greet over the hearty breakfast and location-wise you're basically in the middle of the city.

Room

Guest rooms feature hardwood floors, exposed brick, oriental area rugs, balconies, and lots of concrete. The mattresses are uber comfortable, and there’s satellite TVs, and tea kettles. The owner’s eye for design is everywhere from the space-age white chairs and grand full-length mirrors to the pop-art on the walls.

Bathroom

You’ll find lots of original, colorful tile on the bathroom floors as well as black or white subway tiled walls, exposed brick, rain showers, and Damana bath products.

Lobby

The common areas are all designed for lazy afternoons of reading, writing, or perusing the random assortment of books strewn about the space. A mix of concrete and hardwood floors are throughout as well as chic Edison lights hanging from the ceilings. On one floor you’ll find an honesty bar with sodas and beer – just write down what you take and you’ll see it on your bill at the end of your stay.

Dining

A healthy breakfast contains breads, yogurt, cereals, meats, cheeses, and more. The communal space is a great area for meeting new people and to share city discoveries on a daily basis.

Drinking

There’s an honesty bar with a few simple options, but not much more.

There’s a metro stop only two minutes away from the hotel so it’s easy to get to further parts of the city. Walking around Barcelona is the best way to see the city though and because the hotel is practically in the middle, you can stroll to countless attractions, restaurants, nightlife spots, and more.

Restaurants

For Catalan cuisine by a Michelin-starred chef, check out D’Aprop (5-minute walk) inside the Yurbban Passage Hotel & Spa. If you’re looking for out-of-this-world tapas, head over to Ciudat Condal (7-minute walk) with mouth-burning croquettes.

Bars

If you’re indecisive, check out El Nacional (5-minute walk) as there are four different bars all specializing in various types of alcohol. For more kitsch with your drinking, go to Obama English Pub (5-minute walk) for cold beers and live music.
