Mother India Cafe

Mother India Cafe Review

Overlooking the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, this quaint, casual eatery has a spectacular view as well as an impressive menu. It's quite crowded, so don't expect much intimacy. The food is served tapas-style in small dishes—the idea is that you get to try lots of different flavors. Chili king prawns, chicken achari (cooked with lime and chili pickle) and aloo saag dosa (potato and spinach stuffed in a rice-and-lentil pancake) are all rich in flavor and presentation. The popular café doesn't accept reservations, so be prepared for a (fast-moving) line. It's worth it to bring your own wine, as there's a small corkage charge.
