Kirriemuir

Kirriemuir stands at the heart of Angus's red-sandstone countryside and was the birthplace of the writer J.?M. Barrie (1860–1937), best known abroad as the author of Peter Pan (a statue of whom you can see in the town's square). Kirrie, as it's known here, salutes favorite son Bon Scott (1946–80)—the rasping AC/DC vocalist—in a bronze-and-Caithness-rock memorial statue at Bellies Brae. Metal pilgrims gather each springtime for Bonfest.
