Fodor's Review

This excellent guesthouse combines the original features of a Victorian home with stylish contemporary furnishings. Rooms are fresh and modern, with an occasional antique adding some character. The friendly owners Robin and Barry extend a warm welcome and go that extra mile for guests. There's a thoroughly efficient concierge service with a twist—lots of personal opinions and recommendations thrown in. The owners also have a stylish apartment at Gayfield Square in the

New Town.

Little gem in Edinburgh

We so enjoyed our stay with Robin and Jack (and Tracy the housekeeper and Lola the charming little dog). The room was lovely and quiet overlooking the garden and breakfast was extensive with some unique choices other than the standard Scottish breakfast. The potato waffles were yummy. Location was very good, the bus stopping almost at the door making driving in Edinburgh unnecessary. Would recommend!

Subtle contemporary interior, great beds

The owners have a distinctive logo and you see it reproduced very subtly all through the house. Comfortable rooms with high ceilings. Our bathroom had a skylight and was tiled in marble! Quiet location with a very good breakfast and friendly helpful service. They were happy to accomodate a noisy energetic two year old too!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights in August 2003. It was such a beautiful guest house with a very luxurious feel. The owners had paid attention to every detail and were warm and welcoming (gay-owned, but very straight-friendly). Breakfasts were delicious and generous. A lovely relaxed atmosphere and all within walking distance of the sights of Edinburgh. I will definitely book a room there next time I'm in the city. Absolutely faultless.
