Book NowInterContinental Amstel Amsterdam Review
Elegant enough to please a queen, extroverted enough to welcome Madonna, Michael Jackson, and the Rolling Stones, this grand dowager has wowed all onlookers since it opened its doors in 1867. With its palatial facade, sash windows, and historic roof dormers this is a fairy-tale setting guaranteed to bring out your inner prince or princess. You'll feel like a visiting dignitary when entering the magnificent lobby, with its grand double staircase that demands you glide, not walk, down it. The guest rooms are the most spacious in the city (though they shrink considerably on the top floor), and the décor features Oriental rugs, brocade upholstery, Delft lamps, and a color palette of warm tones inspired by Makkum pottery. Fresh tulips are placed in all of the rooms, and the bathrooms spoil guests with showerheads the size of dinner plates. The generous staff-to-guest ratio, the top-notch food—in particular, at the lovely La Rive restaurant—the riverside terrace, the Amstel Lounge (perfect for drinks), and the endless stream of extra "little touches" (such as yacht service) will make for a truly baronial experience.
