Fodor's Review

With its multiple Michelin-starred restaurants, this Japanese-owned hotel on the far outskirts of De Pijp is highly recommended for foodies, though its elegantly subdued international-style guest rooms will not appeal to everyone. You'll bask in an Asian sense of luxury and service from the moment you enter the lobby, with its marble floors and elegant furnishings, but the spacious rooms, while plushly decked out with comfy beds, are Western-style with neutral colors. Dining options are dazzling: French fare at the top-floor Le Ciel Bleu (two Michelin stars) and downstairs brasserie Serre; sushi at Yamazato (one Michelin star), overlooking a serene Japanese garden; hot Japanese food (teppanyaki) at Sazanka (one Michelin star); and breakfast cooked to order at La Camelia. Don't miss sampling a perfectly mixed cocktail at the Twenty Third Bar, named for the panoramic views from the 23rd floor. Note that there's an extra fee to use the lovely spa and health club unless you're staying in an executive room or higher.
