Badia a Passignano (Abbey of Passignano)
Badia a Passignano (Abbey of Passignano) Review
The dining hall of the towering 11th-century Abbey of Passignano houses a stunningly massive, 21-foot-wide Last Supper (1476) by Domenico and Davide Ghirlandaio, and the monastery's church of has a 13th-century sculpture of Saint Michael slaying the dragon. At this writing, the Ghirlandaio fresco was undergoing extensive restoration, but even if you can't get to see the Last Supper, it's still worth the drive to visit the rest of the abbey and to walk in the beautiful countryside.
