Fodor's Review

One of the scene-setting restaurants in the Pigneto, the latest hip neighborhood in Rome, Primo puts a prime focus on quality ingredients, but the name might just as easily refer to the prime people-watching. The young patrons sip from a selection of 250 wines and nibble hand-sliced prosciutto, anchovy-and-broccoli gratin, and salads with goat cheese and radicchio. Pastas include artichoke tortelli with marjoram and pecorino, and seafood secondi like grilled swordfish with a pistachio sauce. Those with more carnivorous desires can sink their teeth into dishes like the provolone-and-herb-stuffed veal. The neighborhood is a 10-minute bus ride from Termini station.
