Rome: Places to Explore

Repubblica and Quirinale

view-mapView Map

Just west of Rome's modern Termini train station, this area offers an extraordinary Roman blend of old and new. Think of this area as the place where work gets done today: the district from Piazza Repubblica to Piazza Barberini swarms with professionals going in and out of office buildings, while much of Rome’s political work happens at the Quirinale, home to the president of Italy. Far from just a workaday area, though, this is also one with lots of attractions for travelers, from the bizarre Capuchin Crypt to ancient artworks and great Bernini sculptures.
