Editor's Note: This property is currently undergoing renovations.

Housed until 2017 in the majestic 1890s neoclassical temple that once served as the Supreme Court, the reincarnation of the museum is currently under construction in the Városliget (City Park) in conjunction with the present government's grand Museum Quarter plan and was due for completion sometime in 2020, but is now promised to be ready by 2023. It remains to be seen what will happen to its permanent exhibition, "The Folk Culture of the Hungarian People," explaining all aspects of peasant life from the end of the 18th century until World War I, folk art such as embroideries, pottery, and carvings as well as farming tools, furniture, and traditional costumes. The promotional videos (with English subtitles) on its website promise to take the utmost care in restoring the exhibitions in full at their new location.
