This slick bistro just off Vörösmarty tér has an arty, contemporary bent, with wrought-iron chairs, black and gold wallpaper, and a chandelier of feather boas festooning the dining room. The creative kitchen sends out elegantly presented Hungarian and Continental dishes, from standards such as goose liver and duck breast to more adventurous monkfish and tuna. Though the prices are high for what you get, the restaurant is in the heart of the Váci utca shopping district. There's a flash VIP room upstairs for private parties.

First, Budapest is not a food-lovers town unless you love Hungarian dishes. We had dinner at Cyrano on 26 Sept. and thoroughly enjoyed the meal, especially since we were looking to get out from under the heavy load of 'typical Hungarian' being served around. Low-key but attentive service, international menu choices reasonably well prepared, good value. However, when we showed up a few nights later hoping to repeat we were disappointed from the start and left without ordering. Anyway, I'll give it a good rating for the good dinner we did have there, relative to our expectations.

Nice location and very chic. However, the food did not meet expections that were set by other reviews. We had goulash soup (just slightly spicey vegetable soup) and tuna sashimi salad with less than 2 oz of tuna. For main courses we had tuna and salmon. Both were ok. The wasabi mash potatoes were very strong almost inedible. With only water and no wine the bill with tax and tip came to $100.

I have eaten at Cyrano's twice, the first time 4 years ago was so memorable I returned to Budapest and searched it out because I had forgotten the name, though I remembered its location off the Vaci Utca in a little square. The food is creative and magnificent. Duck breast that is first roasted with a delicious crust then sliced and served in a spicy rich brown sauce that perfectly complimented it, it included a sort of gnocchi and excellent balls of spinach souffle that all went well together. Shrimp in a pesto sauce that was delicious with possibly goat cheese puffs was also great. Their souffle is the best ever, it is chocolate but they brown it slightly with butter to make a light crust for texture and serve it with Chocolate sauce, heavy cream and sour cherries in a sauce that goes magnificently. Service inside and in a courtyard was excellent, the price was reasonable for the quality, the environs are modern and high class, and everything from the salad to the espresso was uniformly excellent. I only wish it was in Miami so i could go there more often, as I have eaten at many 5 star restaurants and none were better.

Amazing decor, amazing food, amazing wines.
It is a bit more expensive than other places, but still fantastic value for what you get.
Hey, it's a french restaurant: I want/expect surly waiters making pithy comments.
Please also remember this is Europe, and the food will be served exactly how the chef decides, in order to get the best taste possible out of the ingredients. Rare tuna? I loved it.
