Two highly respectable-looking mansions are devoted to two of Germany's most prominent writers, Thomas Mann (1875–1955) and Günter Grass (born 1927). The older mansion is named after Mann's saga Buddenbrooks. Mann's family once lived here, and it's now home to the Heinrich und Thomas Mann Zentrum, a museum documenting the brothers' lives. A tour and video in English are offered.
