La Roseraie

Fodor's Review:

The Bon Laboureur may be Chenonceaux's most famous hostelry, but this runs close for charm, thanks in part to the joyful welcome of its English-speaking hosts, Laurent and Sophie Fiorito. But let's not forget the guest rooms, many of which are designed with florals, checks, and lace, or the copious meals served in the wood-beamed dining room (where foie gras, duck with fruit and honey, and apple tart are among the specialties), or the pretty pool. Try to get a garden-side room, even if too many pink tablecloths and white chairs make the patio less than restful. If car traffic bothers you, be sure to avoid the rooms overlooking the main street. Pros: wonderful welcome; verdant setting. Cons: some rooms in separate block; garish patio-pool area.Mme Fiorito
