Moored by four marble-front towers, joined by the transparent arcs of pedestrian bridges, and dramatically framing a concourse decked with outdoor sculptures, this building is a bold and emphatic statement of Nice's presence in the modern world. The art collection inside focuses intently and thoroughly on contemporary art from the late 1950s onward, featuring works of the École de Nice (Nice School), the self-dubbed Nouveau Réalistes (New Realists) such as artists César, Bernar Venet, Ben, Yves Klein, Daniel Spoerri, Jean Tinguely, and Niki de Saint-Phalle. The collection includes international acquisitions, too, ranging from Jim Dine and Frank Stella to Miró and Giacometti. Be sure to climb along the rooftop sculpture terrace, a catwalk overlooking the whole of the city.
