La Cour des Loges Review

King Juan Carlos of Spain, Celine Dion, and the Rolling Stones have all graced this spectacular hotel which first began life as a Jesuit convent but whose glowing fireplaces, Florentine crystal chandeliers, Baroque credenzas, and guest rooms swathed in Venetian red and antique Lyon silks make monastic austerity a very distant memory. Set around an arcaded and glassed-in Renaissance courtyard, most rooms are like artists' ateliers, replete with Phillipe Starck bathrooms. Best of all, the restaurant, Les Loges, is one of Lyon's best, with a graceful dining room, a cellar-level wine bar, and a separate café-épicerie restaurant with a lovely vaulted ceiling.
