La Cour des Loges

6 rue du Bœuf, Lyon, 69005, France

King Juan Carlos of Spain, Céline Dion, and the Rolling Stones have all graced this former convent whose glowing fireplaces, Florentine crystal chandeliers, Baroque credenzas, and guest rooms swathed in antique Lyon silks now make monastic austerity a very distant memory. Set around an arcaded and glassed-in Renaissance courtyard, most rooms are like artists' ateliers, replete with Philippe Starck bathrooms. Best of all, the Michelin-starred restaurant, Les Loges, is one of Lyon's best, with a graceful dining room, a cellar-level wine bar, a separate café-épicerie restaurant with a lovely vaulted ceiling and, best of all, Chef Anthony Bonnet, one of Lyon's top young talents.
