Museokeskus Vapriikki Review
Not far from Amuri Museum, in the old Tampella factory area, is the Vapriikki Museum Center, which consolidates the collections of five museums (700,000 pieces) to illustrate the city's role in Finnish industrial history. Housed in a former textile and turbine factory complex that dates from the 1880s, the permanent exhibit focuses on local history, while other displays cover archaeological finds and modern art. The eclectic changing exhibitions, of which there are around 10 annually, run the gamut from Sitting Bull to photography. The center also includes an excellent café and gift shop.
