Eights Week. At the end of May, during Oxford's Eights Week (also known as Summer Eights), men and women from the university's colleges compete to be "Head of the River." This is a particularly fun race to watch because the shape of the river provides an added element of excitement. It's too narrow for the eight-member teams to race side by side, so the boats set off one behind another. Each boat tries to catch and bump the one in front. Oxford, Oxfordshire. www.ourcs.co.uk.
